Arbeloa on his bike?
C&H

Another Hammer to make January exit

Alvaro Arbeloa has joined the growing list of Irons palyers heading for the exit door this January.

Slaven Bilic has decided the 33 year old former Real Madrid defender is no longer part of his plans and he will be allowed to leave.

Arbeloa has joined joined Gokhan Tore and Simone Zaza on the surplus to requirements list after making just one EFL and two Premier League appearances.

He appeared against Accrington Stanley and received yellow cards in his two Premier League outings against Southapton and Middlesborough.

Arbeola was signed on deadline day as the club's need for a right back became urgent but the manager has decided that he will be looking elsewhere in January.

A club insider confrmed the details to us this morning saying: "It's true that Arbeola would be allowed to move on if a club comes for him".

Meanwhile, the club are continuing to explore the options with Tore and Zaza and both are likely to be leaving in the window as reported.

Shambolic really, if true. Slav's living on a lot of accrued goodwill at the moment.

He didn't do too badly in the games I saw him play.

Hopefully it's to free up wages for someone else we have lined up.

I've heard through the grapevine that Mario Mandsukic is coming in Jan from Juventus? Be good if true!

Also if he comes, along if a fit Ayew and Sakho (please God!) then we have no need for Carroll anymore.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
The summer transfer window has turned out to be one embarrassing mess. But the good thing is that the club have clearly accepted their failure and are determined to do what they can to repair things in January. I suspect it will be next summer by the time we recover fully from this. Meanwhile let's at least sort the stadium out and avoid relegation.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
good luck finding anyone who will take Carroll

Mandzukic i dont think is the answer either, Serie A strikers just dont seem to cut it

Arbeloa seems like something has gone on. Is another one though who should have never been signed in the first place.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Why shouldn't he have been signed?

We needed depth and he's an experienced Spanish International who played for one of the greatest teams in the world.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

He's probably got the ache he's not playing, and now we play wing backs he's surplus so will leave to play elsewhere. I'd imagine he'll join some crap league as a big player for them. Like the MLS, China etc.

I'm given to understand that we could be stuck with all three on the wage bill until the end of the season.

He played 9 games last season. Was not match fit and didn't fit the requirement of immediate right back cover that can play at prem level.

I'm given to understand you're a proper prick.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
He hasn't been fit for over a season?! Righto.

He didn't fit the requirement of playing right back ... probably due to the fact we don't play one now.

He's just joined as cover to give us depth, and hasn't played, and wants to move on. It happens.

He's had a fall out with Bilic. Others were saying same few weeks back?

Rossal 1:18 Mon Nov 14
Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
No, otherwise he would of played as soon as he signed. He didnt.

We did need one when he signed as Byram was crocked. The change in system i think was also down to the fact he was so poor.

And that's my point he hasnt signed because he is pony, should never have been brought in.

i-Ron 1:25 Mon Nov 14
Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Well you really can't argue that logic. We should only sign players that in hindsight play well immediately....

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
since January he either played a part or wa son the bench for more than half Real Madrids League matches

According to transfermkt he was injured for only 3

must have been reasonably fit

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Comes down to the comments that I made in another thread that we have, unfortunately, spunked the entire summer recruitment budget on quantity rather than the quality necessary to build upon the success we achieved for large parts of last season.

I find it hard to only point at Tore and Zaza, too. For me, all of the players who arrived over the summer, with the probably exception of Fernandes, have added the square root of fuck-all to the strength of first team options, and we're paying a heavy price as a result.

I'm obviously not party to any of their contracts apart from the oft mentioned appearance clause for Zaza, but I cannot see a future here medium to long term for any of 'em.

I'm sure that the necessary performance reviews will be well underway, but whoever brought in Nordtvedt, Feghouli, Calleri, Zaza, Tore et al, needs to be shagged up the arse with the rough end of a pineapple - be that Bilic, Henry, the two Daves, or whofuckingever.

All of which now applies immense pressure to recruit properly in January, but as we all know from past fucking experience, it's only the lost, lonely and desperate who go shopping in numbers at this time of the year as most of the available quality gets snapped up in the summer, and the price inevitably goes through the roof for those who do become available.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Agree with Rossal, it was another one of a very long list of joke signings that we seem to be experts at, a classic case of buying a 'name' rather than someone fit and capable of doing a job upon arriving. We never seem to learn.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
We've had some shambolic transfer windows in the last 10 years, but the last one must go down as the worst of the lot.
